Butterflies & Blooms

Cal's choice was to visit the Butterflies & Blooms exhibit at the Woodland Park Zoo over the weekend. This is a beautiful, idyllic spot - it's kind of a greenhouse, but gives the feeling of being outside. The exhibit closes for the winter September 30, so we were just in time to get one more look this year.

Pretty! I love those butterfly bushes (the top pic). We have one, and just as advertised, butterflies love it.

Lecia,

I love the butterfly photos! Recently monarch butterflies have taken on a new meaning for me. I hope over the winter to read up on having a butterfly garden. We don't get a lot of sun in our backyard, but I'll give it my best.

Here the link to my butterfly story.

Patricia, Becky, Amy, Elizabeth, Ivy:
Thank you all for visiting! I'm so glad you enjoyed these butterflies. I love them, too. Alexi gets credit for these shots - isn't he talented?! (Is it ok to brag about your husband?)

Joyce: thank you so much for sharing your touching story about your Dad.

Hi Lecia,
Found your blog recently, love it. I also love that I can live vicariously thru you. I was born in Seattle and lived there until I was eleven, then we were transfered out East. Most of my large extended family still lives there-so funerals and weddings are the only time i'm back. When I see your lovely images from the Woodland Park Zoo where I spent so many happy hours as a child or an occasional glimpse of the sound in your photos... I can imagine myself there with my children. Now, we do have the Bronx zoo... not the same :)
