One of our family's favorite holiday traditions is our advent calendar (purchased from Garnet Hill a couple of years ago and no longer available - here is what they have now). If you are looking for a quick, easy way to create a beautiful advent calendar, I saw this neat idea on Design Sponge last week. Here are some ideas to get you thinking about what little treats with which you can fill an advent calendar:

A joke
A small joke book
Crafty:

A beautiful rock

The advent calendar is great! You're never too old;) This year I'm making my sister's calendar, and she's making mine. It's so much fun! It's mostly candy in there though;)
Hope you had a nice thanksgiving:)
very cute!
Great ideas for the advent calendar - thanks!
Ooooh, Advent Calendars are the best. These are great ideas!
My kids have always loved the countdown with their advent calender. We use to buy a religious one with chocolates-sweet and spiritual!
Those ideas are great - I have been totally stuck as to what I can fill mine with (trying to avoid chocolate.)
This is so helpful! I've been collecting things for mine for a while, and just ordered Nutcracker tickets to put in one day. It's hard to come up with that many great ideas and I appreciate the help. Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving!
That's cute! I love advent calendars, but this year I think we'll have to skip it.. 18 months is a little too young perhaps. Next year.
Reminds me that I need to get mine up and stuffed pronto! Thanks for the ideas...
What an awesome calendar! And I love your suggestions for filling it with things other than candy. I never remember eating the chocolate in those things---I was always eager to open it in the morning, but then who wants to eat candy so early in the day? Maybe I was a weird kid...?
And I want to start a movement for adult advent calendars. Won't someone fill mine with chanel nail polish and starbucks gift cards? Who's with me here? :)
What a lovely idea to celebrate the season!
Oh, I love yours.. are those embroidered? I'm guessing not, but that would be so amazing..
This is really very cute, color of this calendar is very warming.
