Cal the Super Hero

Cal the Super Hero "Author and Illustrator by Abbott"
(Abbott is 4 year old Cal's 6 year old brother)

One day Cal was at school. He was having fun. He was having so much fun!

Because his teacher was fun! But one day his teacher was sick.

There was one thing to do. It was Cal! To be the teacher. He was brave.

He shot into the air. He continued.

The End!

Please save these books for your boys to marvel at when they grow up to be super-heros or some sort of fabulous person. I love things like these and enjoy looking back at my sons books. (now 15 - soon to be 16)

Once again, the creative minds of these two little men!
I saved many of my son's works of art. They bring a smile and sometimes a tear even now when I look at them.

My boy's stories always included a "shot" of some sort or a weapon... Why do you think that is? I never allowed play guns in the house or weapons. Yet there was always some sort of physical drama in their stories. Do you think it is innate? I love the illustrations and the story and that he included his brother in his adventure story.

Great book something to treasure.

Have you seen Soulemama's blog today where she talks about the blank books that they use, I bet yours would love them. I looked on the website of the company that Amanda gets them from and they do blank gamebords as well for them to create their own games.

I'm not sure what I love most...the adorable story or the fantastic scotch tape book spine! :-) The whole thing is so creative. I agree with PVE...you've got to keep these. My mom and dad kept a couple of mine...including a hysterical card I made letting them know it was "OK" they brought me home a baby brother instead of sister. Ha!

Aw thanks everyone - Abbott was very proud and flattered to hear your remarks. Incidentally, he made this on his own one morning before I woke up - his idea to write it, and he figured out how to "bind" it.

Preppyplayer - I think it's about an exploration of power - their own and others'.

Cate - Cal is thrilled that he can be your teacher!

Thimbelina - we also use bare books; I posted about them and the comic book pages they sell about a month ago ("Inspire Creativity" post). Abbott loves bare books but also loves to make his own things.

Wow Lecia---this story shows really high level narrative thinking in one so young! between this post and the one below, it is clear that your boys are incredibly creative and expressive.

clearly it runs in the family ;)
