I am so glad to be able to type this, as it has been a very stormy day here in Seattle; I expected to lose power all day. Take a look at the waves in this picture I took at noon today! Now compare to the usual, more serene state of the beach here.
At the boys' (first ever) hockey game tonight, the power briefly went out. I panicked; they of course calmly stopped skating and stood still until the lights came back on. Alexi was very sad to have to miss the game due to work; he set up a short slide show (make sure your speakers are on!) of the shots I got here. Abbott and Cal have on gold jerseys that say "Phinney"; Abbott is wearing an orange helmet. Abbott with his stick in the air is celebrating having scored the first goal! A local news station (KOMO) was on the ice filming; the boys are thrilled about their upcoming stint on TV (sometime next week).
To follow up on one of my goals for 2009, I am taking one photo a day for the entire year. These photos will be posted to Flickr, and that set can be viewed here. (I've also added a link on the side to my Flickr photostream; some make it to this blog and some don't.) This project has already inspired me in many ways!
I just discovered a lovely collaborative project called Habit. I encourage you to take a look! This blog celebrates the simple daily tasks, routines, and rituals that make up our days. I think you will find some resonance there with my blog.
I hope that your New Year is off to a great start!

Every time I visit, I have this really good feeling like I just brushed my teeth, folded laundry, made something good, or someone smile or went to a spiritual place. All good habits or rituals.
You are amazing. Bless you.
I'm so sorry to hear that Alexi missed the game, but I'm glad the boys did well - and will have their 15 minutes of fame on tv.
The photo/day plan is an excellent goal, and I look forward to seeing your pictures!
I'm glad to hear that my word for the day is helpful to you too. I know we had a tough kids-too-wiggly for church experience Sunday morning, but instead of getting upset I focused on all of the pleasurable, good things about the day and it totally turned the whole thing around for me too.
I'm looking forward to following your picture a day. I've toyed with this for some time....maybe I'll join in :).

A great idea Lecia! A photographer just told me this the other day, to take pictures everyday. If only you could see what I have been snapping. LOL... Enjoy xoxo
You have a glorious start to the New Year- making plans and having a purpose.
I just checked out HABIT~ oh, I will certainly make that part of my routine... a new 'habit'!
D~
Sounds awesome, I'm looking forward to the photos to come!
What a fun goal for 2009. Thank goodness for digital as it makes it so much easier to take more pictures on a regular basis. Although, I find that I print a very small amount...
What an exciting post! I can only be an interested observer while my laptop is down & out...
Good for you! A new project for 2009! ENJOY!
Hello,
I love your blog. I found you through The City Sage. Your photos are beautiful, and I have a question on lens for your Canon. I recently purchased the Canon Rebel XS, and I was curious what the difference is between a macro fish lens and a macro lens, besides the price. Which do you recommend? thanks for your input =)
I will definitely be checking out your project on Flickr - what a great idea for the new year, and I love your pics, as always!
such good ideas, so pleasantly presented...wonderfully affirmative! a delight.
