lost tooth #3

Abbott lost his third tooth last night while brushing his teeth, and I have to say that gap in his mouth is one of my favorite things ever. We both cried a little bit after it happened. The tooth is now safely tucked away in his tooth fairy box under his pillow. The tooth fairy has brought him Presidential $1 Coins for each tooth; tomorrow he'll find Thomas Jefferson. So far we've been able to talk him into saving them in a coin collecting folder. (Tooth #2 was actually lost last February at SeaTac airport on the way to Mexico. We thought he had swallowed the tooth until Alexi found it when eating the rest of Abbott's unfinished muffin. The tooth fairy gave him five pesos at our hotel in Mexico that night.)

Don't you love the excitement the next morning?..."the tooth fairy came"! Or... "Santa was here and he ate the cookies". Precious moments.

My children would write the toothfairy and leave the note with their tooth. It would have all sorts of questions. I ( the toothfairy) would disguise my handwriting and have to come up with a lot of creative answers!

I love gap-toothed children, sweet.

I like the tooth in the muffin. Thank goodness dad helped him in finishing off the muffin.

Have a golden weekend! xoxo

Oh, I love it. Toothless grins (on kids, of course!) are the best. I've saved all of my son's teeth that he's lost and left for the tooth fairy. They're stashed away in little plastic bags in my suitcase full of yarn. I'm sentimental like that...

oh I love the tooth fairy, your photos are always so stunning! love! One of my favorite memories is receiving a 'tooth fairy kiss'- I think my mom painted a little kiss with eye shadow on my cheek- I was so thrilled I wouldn't wash it off and wore it to school to share!

They (whoever they are) say that with each lost tooth one gains smarts and loses innocence. Just thought you might want to know you are capturing both smartness and innocence in your photos. :)

I'm looking forward to the tooth fairy, but Gillian teethed late and so we're still probably a year away.
