Just one photograph I'm really loving right now. To me, it epitomizes the concentration and focus that comes so naturally to Abbott (and most children) when he's doing something that really engages him.
Here's the excerpt Abbott will read today at school from the book he's presenting (the photo above is his project about the book):
"Al had never been so disappointed in his life. He went home and set up his laboratory again with the encouragement of his mother. He continued to experiment and tinker with every gadget he could get his hands on. Usually his experiments did not work - but he always kept trying." - Young Thomas Edison by Michael Dooling.

I'd love to see Abbott give his report. Wonderful quote -for all of us-!
Try, try again!
And in fact today is the inventor's birth date!! Feb 11, 1847
How exciting, a report! I can't wait until we have those in our house, too.
Isn't it amazing, watching our little ones grow up? Preparing for reports, learning how to save money, and all that big-people stuff! Would you believe my son made up his own chore-chart the other week? He actually set up tasks for himself to do everyday, like cleaning his room, and laundry, and he even penalizes himself by deducting $1 for every chore missed if he should start slacking. (!) It's astounding, I tell ya!
It looks like Abbott is well prepared for his part today. He has a great piece to read. I like how the mother in the book is supportive and cheering her son to try, try and try again. She sounds a bit like Abbott's mom! (smile...)
Have a golden day! xoxo
Ina: wow - that's almost eerie!! I'm glad you commented early in the morning; I'll tell Abbott right now (we haven't left for school yet) and he can tell his classmates as he gives his presentation!! Thanks! xoxo
