crafting, biking and building

Such a glorious weekend. The sun, a whole day spontaneously spent with friends, time at the beach, bike riding...just about perfect.

Alexi and I attended a Food Allergy Initiative dinner that was very thought provoking; chefs Johnathan Sundstrom and Tom Douglas spoke eloquently about the slow food movement and its importance globally, for health and for those with life threatening food allergies.

And Alexi got Abbott started on a cross stitch project. (Yes, Alexi is the adult member of our family who can sew, thanks to medical school; he can also knit, thanks to his mother.) I value our family creating time so much.

I hope your week's off to a great start!

Our lilacs have not budded yet, but the sun is shining here and it won't be long. I LOVE the stuffed toy in the lower picture having apple slices... your son is growing, Lecia!!!!! xoxo

We have two very young lilacs in our back yard, and I can't wait until they are old enough to be that gorgeous! (There's one for each child....and a story behind that.)

Good for you for having the boys in your family do handwork! It's always encouraging to see that - and my husband knits too!

As a cross-stitcher myself, how cool to see your boys getting started in it...great for hand-eye coordination!
And I love the bear in the background, snacking on (or is that guarding?) apples...it's little touches like that of childhood that I want to hold on to with my kids.

your son seems so focused on what he does. so nice to see that ! what you said about your husband reminds me that mine can sew as well : he even had to do it on our daughter's forehead once !
