the great outdoors

On Wednesdays, I've been participating in "Corner View" hosted by Jane, a project whereby bloggers from around the world take turns choosing a topic for participants to post about. This week's theme is The Great Outdoors.

Today is the anniversary of the date Alexi proposed to me, so my View of The Great Outdoors is about that event. For the occasion, Alexi rented a tandem bicycle and planned a day trip for us. At the time, I found it very unusual that he was making plans for our weekend, as he was a busy radiology resident and I, with more time on my hands, usually made our weekend arrangements. I did not, however, expect that he was going to propose. When we got the bike to the trailhead, he took a blue box out of his backpack and my heart stopped. It was the most romantic ride ever: riding in tandem, planning our future together. Fast forward 10 years: for Mother's day we rode a section of the same route with the boys; this time, Cal riding in tandem with Alexi. Life comes full circle.

We rode to this brewery for dinner - then and now.

Thanks Lecia for taking us down memory lane. I love that you still live so close to where it all began. That is some brewery! Maybe they will be kind enough to give you a small barrel for keepsake to put out in your yard. I have a wine barrel out in our yard it is kindn of fun and I use it to put food on when we entertain outside.

I live just a bit further east from there! It's a beautiful area, isn't it? However, I love where you live. What I wouldn't give to live on the water like you! And to live 10 minutes away from the market?! I'd be there every day!

I love popping in from time to time and catching up on your blog, beautiful pictures and interesting posts. Thanks for sharing with us!
