rhythm of life

Since becoming a parent, I've sought and been sensitive to balance and rhythm in our lives. Sometimes, this feels like a challenge; at other times I don't even think about it until it occurs to me we're in a rhythm, and it feels just right. You know that feeling when your day has a natural flow, when there are moments of quiet interspersed with activity, a bit of both the inside and the outside world - everything we need. I believe this is the nurturing base from which we're able to grow and flourish safely. Anytime there's a big change, like the changing of the seasons, our rhythm changes. This evening with the warmer temperature and extended daylight, I shifted our routine a bit later to allow just a little more outdoor play time.

"Let's do this again tomorrow."

I am sure your guys were very happy about staying outside alittle longer. That's part of a happy childhood during the Spring/Summer months. So glad you are aware of these rhthymn of changes in nature.

I love the way our rhythm changes with the seasons. We too make more time to prolong the day. We may walk down to the lake after dinner enjoying the last bit of sunlight. Have a wonderful weekend.

I find that when we make space to make music then we begin to hear it, and the rhythm takes over.

mmmm, i love the rhythm of spring and summer...the way we can drink in so much of the day. your boys are so lucky to have a mama who does listen to the rhythms of the seasons... their joy is apparent in your pictures. happy weekend, lecia!

Rhythm is a very fragile thing for us - which is sad because it's what we all need! It seems like the smallest thing can throw it off, and we have to work really hard to maintain it.

i have often thought about that myself... especially since we moved in the country : we are more sensitive to the change of seasons, and can live more outside in the yard.
and that's a good thing for bodies & minds.

I love when the changing rhythm means longer sunny days! Now...if the sun would only come out here...
