Alexi and Abbott spent the weekend at Camp Colman with their Y Guides group. Despite fatigue, they both enjoyed the camp and its activities, and their time together and with their group. One on one time can be a real gift. I feel I got to know Cal in a whole new way over the weekend. I learned, for instance, that he really, really wants his own kitty. For his birthday. Or Christmas. Or whenever. At a park yesterday we encountered a fountain; he asked "is this where wishes are made?" and after I gave him a penny, promptly wished for a kitty of his own. (We have one cat, Cinnamon; her brother Piper died last summer.) The kinds of questions he asked continuously throughout the weekend made me nostalgic for my own childhood; I remember wondering about those very same kinds of things.
And now, our first Monday of summer vacation. Today will probably involve multiple loads of laundry, a couple of errands in the neighborhood, and who knows what else? Because that is the beautiful thing about summer.
I hope your week's off to a great start, friends. xoxo

Your're right: that is the beautiful thing about summer. It has an air of foot loose and fancy free.
Guess when the cat's away, the mice will play!
I feel a "cat on a hot tin roof" coming on....this summer!
That camp looks like a little boy's dream come true!
This is the perfect summer post. It makes me wish for nothing more than a kitten too.
One more week for us and its summer, just wish mother nature would catch on. I hope santa brings a kitty. Love the care free summers enjoy!
That looks like the greatest weekend ever! The facilities look a lot like the campgrounds that we went to for years and years for church camp.
And my eldest is lobbying for a rabbit....and just this weekend she met the woman who sold me mine when I started showing them through 4-H and the ARBA. Jainey sweetly smiled at us, and told Gillian to come see her when she was ready!
The weekend sounded like fun for both boys.
Working out of a home office and watching my employer's girls grow up I loved watching or hearing about the one on one times. I think they are so important as kids grow up. Now I get to see/hear about the one on one time from a college and HS ages.
When is Cal's bday? I will keep my fingers cross he will get his wish! xoxo

Looked like non-stop fun!
Hey Lecia--My dad (your uncle) told me that you had a blog and it is absolutely breathtaking. I also started a blog back in September, if you are interested in checking it out e-mail me and I'll send you the blogsite address. It's much more intimate than your site, but I thought you might enjoy it. Much love to you and your family--your cousin, Debi
