Alexi lived in Rennes, France as an exchange student for a year of high school. His French mother's cooking is legendary in our house. The grandson of his host family, Jean, is currently here for a visit. Alexi asked his French mother to send her recipes for french fries and crepes with him.

Last night, Alexi and Jean tested the recipe for frites.

The process seemed to go smoothly, and not surprisingly, they were a big hit.
Hopefully soon we'll have a chance to make crepes.

Awesome! I love the handwritten recipes. Something about handwritten French makes me giddy. Those fries look yummy!!
Those recipes look like they are treasures. It was generous of her to pass them along.
It looks lovely :) The handwriting is so pretty!
A lot of work for the real thing! Looks delish!
oh yum, homemade fries...nothing better...

I am hungry now!! And I have not yet had my morning coffee... xoxo
oh yum. My step-brother married a french woman last year and she she had a big crepe party after some coaxing. 100 crepes later - both savory and sweet - we were sated to say the least. Amazing!
The handwritten recipes are a treasure. And your dessert looks a amazing. Be sure to let us know how the crepes come out.
How cool that Alexi is half French! My husband is French and enjoys making crepes from the family on Sunday mornings; I'll pass on your mom-in-law's recipe so we can try that one too! Thanks for sharing.
Delish! These should be in a food mag.
Eating at your house is truly an event! Looks scrumptious!

I love French handwriting. My French teacher at school was French and used to write much the same.
