Some of my favorite recent flower photos.
What are you up to this weekend? Alexi has to work at the hospital all weekend; the kids and I plan to do some biking, and get ready for my sister's visit in a few days.
Alexi and I finished watching Season 5 of Lost last week (we've watched all five seasons since the first of the year via netflix). Any recommendations for another fun series we can watch together?
I found this piece from the New York Times' 'Modern Love' quite moving; it really gets at the heart of marriage, I think.
Enjoy your weekend!

Lovely pictures! I love flowers. The story was very interesting, too. Makes you think twice before you react in a certain way sometimes.
Your pictures made my day.Especially the purple flowers!
Thanks for sharing this.
Wonderful photos and a wonderful marriage take lots of watering, weeding and patience to grow. As the years add up, we need to look back at the seed that started it all to blossom.
Seasons change, love fades and then it finds a way to bloom, full of hope. That article was a tear jerker.
happy weekend.
Thanks for the link to that article.
What a brave woman.
and, I love the riot of color in the top photo!
Beautiful pictures! I've been working on my photography skills lately and they don't even compare. :( I'll just enjoy ooh-ing and ah-ing over yours.

you won't see comments from me for awhile. i am headed offline for a stretch, but mike and i both love snuggling up to the TV show, chuck, together. the perfect mix of action, romance, and humor for us. a friend that knows this recommended the show, weeds. i know nothing about it, but she says it is good!

Very interesting article about coming to terms with midlife, and all that it entails, in our society, where our "personal trajectory" is often confused with the meaning of our life.
I love reading through the NYT, I always find the most interesting/intriguing articles. I love your flower pictures...I have tried to take more lately when it isn't raining.
Thanks for the link to that article - I thought it was interesting and provocative.
Hubby and I are into Mad Men, you should definitely check it out.
such gorgeous flowers. and i loved that piece too, even though it was really sad -- but she was so honest and intelligent, was so interesting xo
ps. i'm going to make that pasta dish you posted about (below) tonight!!! thank you!!!
Thanks for the link to the article Lecia. Very interesting. The writer had real strength to tough it out through a seriously difficult part of her marriage.
What beautiful flowers! I've been a bit deprived this summer, and they did just the trick.
loved the article, sent a copy to my cousin dudley....beautiful pictures!
Great shots !!!
I love the purple flowers with the heart shape leaves ...
I have read this article on another blog and liked it so much I just read it again. There are some lessons in there to be used in all relationships and daily stuff too. Thanks. xoxo
you too!
Gracious, what gorgeous flowers!!
My weekend? Knitting, cooking, reading and Julie and Julia!
Entourage!!!
We just caught up on seasons 1 & 2 of Mad Men, just in time for the third season to start next week. It's excellent, and the costumes/hair are fantastic! If you haven't seen The Wire yet (HBO's retired series), it is probably the best television I've ever seen: inspiring, heartbreaking, suspenseful and unforgettable characters... downright Shakespearean. There are 5 awesome seasons to watch.
my husband was on call/duty as well this past weekend -- just when we were hosting our daughter's 10th birthday party (backyard camping weekend ) I was exhausted on Sunday evening !
And a little update : France is starting the season 5 from Aug. 19th on ; )
Have a nice week !
thank you for sharing that article with me, i have been feeling a bit blah lately and it was interesting for me to read
I've never, ever kept a Modern Love article but I clipped and kept that one. So, so fabulous.
