I get asked a lot what my plans are now that the boys are both in school. I have to admit the question always surprises me. The short answer is that I plan to do what I've been doing, better. Better with a little more time during the day to keep our family organized and running smoothly, and more time to be useful at school and in our community. When I'm lucky, coffee or lunch with a friend. And I really hope that, once I'm finished catching up with the organizational chaos summer left behind, I'll have a little extra time for reading some of the books I often don't have the energy for in the evening. One book I'm eager to read is Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn. Oh, and I love having a few extra minutes a day to take pictures. That's also nice.

What I Do

Beautiful photos as usual. I like your sincerity about doing what is important for you and your family.
It's amazing how the time flies and how easy it is to fill your day with little errands and putzing here and there. Enjoy and look forward to more gorgeous photos.
Beautiful pics! I've found that the more time you have, the less time you have:) Somedays it seems as if evey minute is taken up with something - what's great is that they are "my" somethings. Time with family, time to help a neighbor, time for swimming my dog at the beach...all necessary and important but probably not the traditional "busy" day for most people.
We place so much value on "doing" that it is wise to have a moment to undo. I think one word of advice is that what you do belongs to you and brings you happiness. Do you know how you delight me with your photos and all that you "do."
Let us know about the book, I think am doing a lot of unconditional parenting over here! :)
beautiful photos.
I hope you continue do all those things do them better!!
The stark contrast between the two rocks in the second photo (top to bottom) is stunning. It is almost as if the one in the background is stalking the one in the foreground. Many thanks.
Greetings from London.
Organizational chaos? I think I know that ...:)!
Sounds like a good Idea to me!
UGH!!! that wildlife. what's the big deal. Recently, I've spooked a wild turkey and her poults and a deer. seriously though they were pretty far away. Hey Lecia - i read that book. I really liked the style and many of the ideas were spot on!
enjoy some of your additional time. you deserve it!
Great post! I like your plan. Have a golden day! xoxo
Beautiful pics. So lovely. It's funny the questions people ask as if the hours are endless when the kids are in school. Also as if you have to somehow justify the day for them. I find the day goes way to fast and your really don't have all the time you thought you had. Being a talented artist like you of course you would want to spend time on your craft and the day would go quickly and organizing your family will take lots of time. Treasure it and find time for you.
yes! i get that question a lot, too! and i feel the same!
stunning photos!

Your photos are wonderful! I always chuckle when someone asks me what I do with my time. I'm never bored, never at a loss for soemething to do- I keep busy with friends, family, volunteer work, reading, blogging, organizing, cooking, working out...in other words, BUSY.
Great answer!
As I looked at your photos this morning, I couldn't help but think of what Waldorf education calls "the out breath." During the school day, the kids move through a rhythm that includes "breathing in" (book work, concentrated study) and "breathing out" (movement, free play, being outside).
Looking at your photos today is my morning "out breath." Thank you.
Superb pictures I just love the cormorants.
Enjoy your little extra minutes in the day.

so beautiful
The second photo....stunning!
Wishing you all the time to do some reading, quality time with friends and some extra time to take pictures. Especially the last part...just for our benefit! ;)

I love your mindset on your days right now--perfect!
Love your post.
I have similar goals -- nothing makes me happier than to see the ones I love happy -- excepted I don't run, I swim !
And I love these poppies :)

I'm with Kwana, I think it is a strange question, as though you need to justify your time.
I guess I just mean to say, go ahead girl!
BEAUTIFUL... I LOVE LOVE LOVE that first photo!!!
ENJOY your weekend!

I get the same question myself - even though my youngest is only in school for a total of 6 hours/week. My answer? Nothing whatsoever has changed with my schedule...except that I now feel a bit more stressed because I feel like I'm always driving someone somewhere!
Unconditional Parenting is an awesome book. What did you think?
