My paternal Grandmother died peacefully yesterday morning, after suffering a stroke and subsequent coma a couple of weeks ago. This is the first time I've lost anyone that close to me. I've thought about the song lyrics above a lot today (the song is one that was on an album I had in high school), because someone I've known and loved all my life now is up there and knows what this is all about down here.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Just the Sunday before the loss of your dear grandmother I lost my grandfather. Like you this is the first person that I was close to who has passed. It has been sad. I've spent many hours over the last ten days thinking back on all of the memories. Please know that you are not alone in your grief.
