the rain

Yesterday I accompanied Cal's class on a field trip to a pumpkin patch. In order to fit everything in I wanted to accomplish, I started my day with a run in the dark and in a heavy rain before school (I found it surprisingly peaceful and invigorating). Despite Seattle's reputation, the rain here tends to be on the misty side and it rarely rains all day. This field trip ended up being just wet and cold and not-so-fun for anyone. I'm glad we had already made a family trip to a pumpkin patch. More typical of this city, the rain stopped by the time we got back to school and the sky was blue when I returned home from school. Later in the evening I heard thunder. We had such a dry summer, I'm still a bit surprised when I hear it on the roof as I'm falling asleep.

That looks like quite a large pumpkin Cal selected!
I love the sound of rain as I fall asleep; I think it's very soothing.
Your photos are fantastic!!

You always take such wonderful, expressive photos.
I love the last one- the face, pumpkins in the back and the orange rain jacket. He is so cute.
There's something about hearing rain on your rooftop that makes falling asleep a big comfort.

Photographs in the rain are always so lovely--such a different perspective than on a sunny day. Beautiful!

We had a really dry summer too, here in Minnesota we're getting all our rain in the month of October it would seem.

I love the last photo too, it must have been a deluge for the raindrops to show up so well in a picture!

glad (and envious) of your morning exercise! your shots are beautiful, even if the outing was not as fun as if it had been dry!

Even with the rain you took beautiful pics. Poor Cal looks so sad but sweet.

I love that pic of Cal holding the wet and shiny pumpkin - it's been a rather wet and gray month here in the midwest, although the last couple of days have been glorious. The leaves are really coming down off the trees now....

a sea of pumpkins... just beautiful !

I wish we had those events here to fight the raindy/dark weather, and because I guess they make such wonderful childhood memories...

Today we have about the same weather ! :(
