at this point in November

One thing I love about colder weather is soup. My favorite is french onion soup, or gratin lyonnais if you're at a french restaurant.

Have you seen the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles? Hilarious. I just added it to our Netflix queue to watch again; it's been awhile. Are there any other great Thanksgiving movies out there we should see?

I'm finally starting to focus on Thanksgiving. I've reserved a turkey and am at least mentally starting to plan. I'll miss my Grandmother's pecans this year; she always sent me a box from her trees.

We are so going there when I visit next time. It's my favorite.

We made french onion soup at home last week. It was very very very good. I may need to make it again this weekend.

Have a good weekend, friend.

That looks heavenly! I love soup weather, too. We usually make up one big pot every week of whichever recipe sounds best and then we eat on that all week.

LOVE ACTUALLY!!! One of my favorite movies of all time and the very very end always makes me cry...

Today I went to the supermarket and got all I needed for the feast. Made my cooking plan and am looking forward to the week ahead.

Holidays are hard when you are missing someone... Peter Frampton's song "Show Me The Way" will always have a special place in my heartsongs because it was a song that came on in a little bar where my aunt Bette, my cousin, sister and I were shortly before my aunt died. When the song came on we all started singing that song in the bar! Every time it comes on the radio I think of Aunt Bette..... sometimes if I am having a difficult day and I flip on the radio and that song comes on, I think she is sending me a message that it will be all right.... showing me the way..... xoxoxo

Do you have your grandmother's recipe? It would be a good tradition to continue!
From this side of the pond, I'll enjoy seeing your Thanksgiving preparations - though we're technically a bicultural family, we never do Thanksgiving, as without all the festive feeling around us it feels a little meaningless.

i have never experienced a good french onion soup yet. had a very bad experience with a very floury looking soup long ago and have been hesitant to try anymore.

Fave TG movie: "Home for The Holidays" with Holly Hunter, Anne Bancroft, Robert Downey Jr....etc. That movie is brilliant, hysterically funny, sad, & well-written. I could watch it a million times, and still notice new things.
