Goodbye, Cinnamon

We said a very sad goodbye to our beloved cat tonight. Cinnamon had nearly fourteen years of happy, well loved life. Her companionship has been a constant for me as she has followed me around the house the entirety of her life. She showed surprising patience for Abbott and Cal as they entered her life as infants, and complete devotion to them as they grew.

We will miss you so, so much Cinnamon.

I am so very sorry about the loss of your Cinnamon. He was very handsome, and from your description - a little sweetheart. When my Leo passed last May, I was lost, as he was my little buddy. I still have his pic. next to the computer. You may want to keep a pic. or two around. It will allow everyone to remember the good times.

Lecia et al.. my heart goes out to you. this little poem has stayed with me a long time:

I Am Always With Them

And God asked the feline spirit,
"Are you ready to come home?"
"Oh, yes, quite so," replied the precious soul,
"And, as a cat, you know I am most able to decide anything for myself."
"Are you coming then?" asked God.
"Soon," replied the whiskered angel,
"But I must come slowly, for my human friends are troubled
For, you see, they need me, quite certainly."
"But don't they understand?" asked God, "That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed? It just is....forever and ever and ever."
"Eventually they will understand," replied the glorious cat,
"For I will whisper into their hearts that I am always with them,
I just am....forever and ever and ever."

I'm teary eyed thinking about your loss. We too have had pets that we had before we had kids and they rolled with the punches accepting the new little people that arrived. We still look at the pictures and talk about them (2 cats and two dogs). I love, love the pictures you posted. I am sorry for your having to say good-bye.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about Cinnamon. But that's amazing that you gave her such a happy life...more appreciated than her meows and following/stalking could ever even tell you. :-)

That last picture is indeed a priceless memory.

That breaks my heart about your cat! I know 14 years is a long life for a cat, but also in retrospect that you have had so much loss in your life these last few weeks. Hope the children are not taking it too hard.

oh Lecia, I had not read your blog for a few days because the week is awfully busy here and how sad to discover these terrible news.
I'm a "cat mom", and it breaks my heart. try to rememeber what a good life full of love you gave to her, and this only. As likeschocolate said it is both long and too short, and you've had so much on your shoulders lately...
Hugs to you all I'm keeping you in thoughts & prayers

Lecia and family,
I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Cinnamon. There are no words to ease the pain, but only time and the memories. To loose a four legged family member is never easy. My heart goes out to you.

We came home after a week of being gone to Kelly thinking it was her time. She just might be giving me a Christmas gift of one more time.
Sending you all many hugs... XOXOXO...
