stormy days

The weather the past couple of days in Seattle has been epic. Barreling down rains, torrential hail, wind, apocalyptic thunder and lightning. A couple of nights ago it sounded as if the world was ending. Mercifully, my bout of flu seems to finally be ending; today is the first day I've been without fever in about a week.

As I was rifling through my sweaters this morning to find something to wear, I wondered if there is a good solution for 'pills' on sweaters. Do you know?

No idea how to remove pils so just replace the sweater :)

Glad you are on the mend!! Being sick is not fun! xoxo

Never just pull them off. You should either use a razor or an electric clothes shaver. I got mine at Target and it works like a dream. I forget what section of the store you find it in, but it looks a little something like these (sorry for the long link):

Glad you are back to feeling some what better. As for your sweater I have a sweater shaver that works wonders I think I got it at Target. Hope you and the boys have a wonderful Sunday.

These all sound great. I use a sweater stone that I got in a yarn shop. Each fall I gather up the sweaters that need work and set aside some time to take care of the pesky little pills-they come out like new.

I hope the weather improves as your health does!

i hear, though have never tried myself, that a pumice stone will depill sweaters. let me know if it works.

so glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better, lecia.

Beautiful leaves in the wind in your first photo! No idea about pills. But I'd love to learn what an "electric clothes shaver" is! Glad you're better.

I can really feel the movement of the leaves in that first photo. Cool!

One of our wedding gifts was a tiny hand-held battery-operated thingy that was specifically designed for sweater pils. I don't know what's it called, and I've tried to find one but can't. Maybe now with the internet it will be easier to find. In a pinch, I use a razor to carefully shave off the offenders.

Lecia, glad you are feeling on the mend... I love your tea party pics from Friday! The sweater shaver is the best tool ... I think most agree!

Lecia,
Glad you are on the mend! You can buy the sweater "shaver" at Bartells. It works great. I too need to do that project. Have a relaxing Sunday.

I've always used a sweater shaver as well!

Sweater shavers work unbelievable well - pick one up at Target along with a few batteries and you'll be set. Glad to hear you're feeling better!

I am glad you are finally starting to feel better! I also use a pill shave on my sweaters. It really extends the life of my sweaters. Find them at Target on the laundry/ironing board aisle.

A sweater stone? What is this mystical thing? I need one! And I am glad to hear that those shaver thingies work. I just assumed they wouldn't. I use the pick 'em by hand method, or I just live with the pills.

Glad you're recovering, L!

pill removing stone/block/thingy (you'd think a knitter would be more technical!), careful razoring, pick 'em by hand (my favorite) or the little battery operated tool...any of which would work!

Sounds like you've had some excitement with the weather! Personally, I like regular fall storms, but the type you are describing usually send me cowering to the basement. Then again, we're in tornado country!

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better!
