Gingerbread Village: "A Christmas Story"

One of our family's holiday traditions is visiting the Seattle Sheraton's Gingerbread Village. This display is created by local architectural firms and the Sheraton's chefs; proceeds benefit the Northwest Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The theme for this year's village is "A Christmas Story".

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" was Cal and Abbott's favorite.

The Muppet Christmas Carol:

It's a Wonderful Life:

Jolly Old Jack:

A Christmas Story:

How the Grinch Stole Christmas:

The Polar Express (my favorite):

What beautiful gingerbread designs. It always amazes me how creative people can be with gingerbread and a few candies.

I'm in awe: I once bought Ikea's gingerbread house mixture, and we barely managed to make the four walls stand up! The roof got eaten by a hungry little boy before it could even be put in place.
PS word verification "pigs" - what do you make of that?

Anything Tim Burton or Muppet themed is a-ok with me. Especially if it involves sugar...

Hi Cathy, Thanks for coming to my blog... So you are in Muscle Shoals??? We are in Crossville--but I went to college in Athens (Tenn. Wesleyan)--way back in 1960-64... I used to read their newspaper when we were there...

The "Christmas Story" display is amazing. I've seen things like this--but these are some of the most creative I've EVER seen. Wow!!!!!

Come back to my blog anytime and I'll return to yours.
Hugs,
Betsy
