Groundhog Day

As I was searching the internet to see whether the groundhog had seen his shadow or not, part of the list of search results contained movie showtimes for the 1993 movie Groundhog Day (apparently it is re-screened every year on Groundhog Day). The movie is one of my all-time favorites. Bill Murray plays the part of a weatherman in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, sent to cover the Groundhog Day ceremony. On February 2, a groundhog is taken out of his house; if he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter; if not, there will be an early spring. He repeats the same day over and over again until he realizes his life as he's been living it has not been worthwhile. He then starts to use his time to learn things like playing the piano and ice sculpting, and helping others, and that one day he's stuck in isn't long enough. A good lesson there.

According to the groundhog, we're in for six more weeks of winter. Happy Tuesday to you!

It was a cute movie.
6 more weeks of winter is not what most of us want to hear. It's OK with me, though! I dread the 90's of the summer!

The babies are growing fast....

We watch that movie every year, if we can't get it in on Groundhog Day, we try to do it this week.

That picture is just adorable for a dreary February day. Actually the sun is expected to shine over Anchorage all this week, so I do not expect "dreary".... I do, however, expect the 6 additional (or more) weeks of winter. :)

I have - ahem - rather unfortunate memories of the people I saw that movie with, so I'm sad to say that I haven't watched it in years. (College...soon to be broken heart and all...)
