Superbowl Sunday

The superbowl is the only football game we watch. Abbott and Cal were surprisingly into it this year; I think it's their involvement in hockey and general enjoyment of sports that accounts for it. I have fond memories of watching it in my childhood. Since my paternal grandmother's passing in November, I think of her every time I think of football. She was the biggest fan of the sport I've ever met - she went to her town's football games, loved the Dallas Cowboys, watched any and all of it available. I think it was partly the Texan in her.

Happy Monday!

It's wonderful to talk about our loved ones who have passed on. I think it's important to keep their memories alive. The boys will like knowing their Nana liked football too.

My dad never missed a football game. But especially loved college football. In particular, the University of Michigan. He played for them in the '20's. The day he died, my sister and I had the game on in the hospital room. I have no idea whether he was aware of it or not, but it seemed the right thing to do on a Saturday afternoon.

I must admit that what I love the most about football is my husband's anual post-Super Bowl announcement that football is over for a few months! (*grin!*)

Actually, it's really nice that my Dad and my husband can bond over sports. It's always hilarious listening to them - especially Dad - yell at the tv!

I have great memories of going to the football games with my Dad when I was growing up. First, the Jets when we lived on the East Coast, and then the wonder of the Silverdome (indoor football!) and the Detroit Lions. I'm still a Lions fan today, in spite of their horrendous record. And I cheered the Saints on to victory last night, along with my husband.

What a sweet image, after the game, of Drew Brees with his one-year-old son!

I'm glad the boys enjoyed the game and the game brought happy memories. I haven't been on lately and it is good to stop here for some smiles. xo

What a magical photo. I love it.

I'm with you, the Super Bowl is pretty much the only football game I watch.

I think what was so magnetic about this year's Bowl was the extra meaning behind the Saints winning. New Orleans and all the suffering. For one brief moment that suffering was replaced by pure joy.

Your blog is lovely...

In our family we only watch tennis. Every.single.tennis.match that we can get live online. Nice memory of your grandmother.
