"...I feel that a man is a very important thing - maybe even more important than a star...I have a new love for that glittering instrument, the human soul. It is a lovely and unique thing in the universe. It is always attacked and never destroyed..."
John Steinbeck, East of Eden p. 302

One of my favorite book also! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
I just finished re-reading Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery... a childhood favorite that has carried over into my adulthood. I know what you mean about loving books that stick with you, especially those that leave you with such positive feelings and visual images.
I've never read East of Eden.....perhaps I'll have to pick it up. Beautiful photo!
I also loved Travels with Charley, his memoir about a road trip around the USA with his standard poodle, Charley, taken in 1960 in a specially made camper he called "Rocinante" after Don Quixote's horse. He wanted to see America on a personal level. He travelled nearly 10,000 miles on this road trip!
Happy Tuesday xoxo
What a gorgeous photo! Where was it taken?
I keep meaning to read East of Eden, but it's definitely a project.
I know what you mean...when I read a good book it can stay with me forever. Beautiful quote!
I've never been much of a Steinbeck fan, but perhaps I should start exploring him a little bit more.
I just finished rereading one of my favorites (started a post before the surgery hit) and it's left me in a very happy, contemplative place.
A lovely Tuesday treat! I love East of Eden--it is one of those books I keep going back to read.
Ina I will have to check out that book :)
Steinbeck's Cannery Row is one of my favorite books of all time. East of Eden has been sitting on my shelf for years and I have never picked it up. I'm inspired to now--what an amazing quote.
What a beautifully serene photo. Thank you for sharing it.
