Here is a message by the photographer, Chris Jordan:
"These photographs of albatross chicks were made in September, 2009, on Midway Atoll, a tiny stretch of sand and coral near the middle of the North Pacific. The nesting babies are fed bellies-full of plastic by their parents, who soar out over the vast polluted ocean collecting what looks to them like food to bring back to their young. On this diet of human trash, every year tens of thousands of albatross chicks die on Midway from starvation, toxicity, and choking."

Beautiful picture and thanks for the info. So awful.
This is so sad about the albatross chicks. It breaks my heart. I'm glad the kids are doing this project and hope more schools are jumping in.
I just had an incredibly powerful reaction to YOUR photo. Perhaps I'm more starved for green than I suspected because when your photo appeared on my screen I actually started to salivate a little bit, and I found myself lean very close to the screen to drink it all in. Which is funny as it's not at all about food...I think it's just so appealing that my body needed a physical way to show how much I loved it!
i have watched this several times before. it is awful. our plastic consumption was never high but is way down. you might enjoy this blog:
