candy in Cal's pocket from the parade)

Every year in my neighborhood a parade celebrates the beginning of baseball season. This parade is quite an event. A nearby high school's marching band leads the procession, and every man, woman, child and pet from the neighborhood attends, and some years the Mariner Moose (Mariner professional baseball team mascot) is also in attendance (sadly not this year). It's one of those moments that makes me so very happy to live where I do; thankful for the 'village' helping raise my children. And, in the middle of big city life, enjoying the sense of community ordinarily associated with a small town.
Long live Little League!

Lecia I cannot believe how big your little guys are getting! I hope there are some grand slams out of the park this season for them.
I think no matter how old I get I will always have a young heart for parades. xo
Beautiful pictures Lecia.
I love community spirit that is always brought out at events like this, I am looking forward to village cricket in two months time, it will be made of awesome.
Such a cool community you live in. Hope the boys have a wonderful season.
This is absolutely adorable. Love the candy in the pocket!
My town always has a parade in September for the annual fair and the whole town comes out for it. They're so much fun, aren't they?
L - I love the shot of Abbott #6 and how it also shows the street of the community of which you speak. I believe community is made not only of what's available but also what you make of it. How you participate is the best part. Hats off to you for recognizing what you have. Cheers!
How absolutely wonderful for the young players! I adore baseball... Too bad the Mariner Moose did not attend this year. I too love a parade and would have been cheering from the side with my 4 pups!! Looks like Spring has Sprung!! xoxo
That second picture.....so sweet!
And what a great day it must have been for the boys.
What an event! I don't think I've ever seen a sport related parade in my country.
Spring is definitely here!
That does look like a lot of fun!

It is funny, I always thought you lived in Magnolia based on the photos. Great captured moments. You have captured the moments perfectly.
how I like all this happiness in red & yellow !
I wish we had such events here
but they don't even celebrate carnival anymore.
yet i believe these celebrations are like a path of little stones to follow, rythm of the seasons when you're a child and so happy to remember as an adult.
