Alexi, Abbott and Cal really outdid themselves in spoiling me yesterday. I got to sleep in and then there was breakfast in bed. And homemade cards and gifts. The older I get the more I realize my enjoyment of an event is inextricably linked to everyone else in my family's enjoyment, so instead of choosing a destination like the Art Museum (last year's Mother's Day outing), I requested to go to a baseball game. We had such a great time - the weather was beautiful, and the home team won. In general our weekend was really perfect. We had little planned, no rushing, and lots of high quality together time.I love all holidays, partly because celebrating is fun, partly because they serve as a mental map of time for me. I remember snippets of years gone by because of what we did for Mother's Day or Valentine's Day or Christmas that year.
I'm feeling very lucky indeed to have so much love in life. I hope you had a special day with those you love.

You are indeed fortunate, Lecia! I have wonderful memories of holidays as well. Enjoy the times together...your children will grow up faster than you would wish. And while my mother has been gone quite a while, I do miss her still.
I spent mine alone...two of my children live far away and the one that is nearby works nights and sleeps days. No day off as he changed his days off to give those who are mothers time with their families.
It was not a sad day, but a relaxed day of doing what I wanted. Each of my children called and remembered with cards and flowers.
It was a lovely day.
