dreaming

As I was tucking Abbott into bed last night he asked me, "What do you dream about, Mom?" What a question. "What do you mean by that? While I'm sleeping?" "Yes." "I often don't remember. The moon maybe. You." "Oh. I think I dream about what I've been reading. It's nice reading before going to sleep, isn't it?" "Yes."

It is funny what you dream about after you've been reading before bed. Sometimes I still dream about children's books!

I often forget what I'Ve been dreaming about which is a pity. however, the other night I had a lovely dream about a friend of mine who I haven't seen for a while and that he showed his camera lenses. Not the most exciting topic but still charming!

I rarely remember what I dream about. Thank heaven.

Is that, by any chance, an apple fritter in that photo? My favorite. Wish I had one right this minute!

This morning Mr. O told me he had a nightmare about me cutting thru Jeter's tail! I would love to read quietly before drifting off to sleep but Mr. O has the tv on and the remote FIRMLY in his hand. It is quite the process to extricate the remove from his hand after he falls asleep...... Happy Summer Days! xoxoxo

I haven't had that conversation with my girls yet...although come to think of it, it's odd that I haven't given how very important my own dreams are to me.

my favorite blog posts of yours are when you share the things your boys say to you and each other. Not only do I find these anecdotes touching and amusing, but I always think of what a lovely thing you are doing for yourself, and them, by recording these daily-life things which would otherwise be forgotten.

My little boy and I had a similar conversation one night last week, as I was tucking him into bed. "Here's what I think you should dream about, Mum," he said to me. "One of those lawn chairs and leans back. You could be sitting on it at the beach, under an umbrella, with a cold drink. I think you'd like that dream."

Clever kid.
