At our family meeting last night we started a list of things we hope to do over the summer. I also wrote up a loose weekly schedule and posted it on our family board. It occurred to me that school is highly structured for the boys and they're craving free time, but that they benefit from some structure and sense of what's coming next. (Abbott requested that I also add the upcoming desserts to the weekly schedule.)
Happy Monday! And happy summer. Though we had two fireside meals yesterday, I'm told sun is in our future this week. xo

Actually I'm starting to appreciate summer at last and that's also thanks to you for showing me how beautiful it can be. I'm someone who doesn't like heat and finds it oppressive in the city but there are so many nice things like the long evenings, the colours, fruits, flowers and long holidays that I love. I miss structure too when there's a lot of free time so a plan sounds good.
I love summer... but I hate hayfever!!
Love your "loose" summer schedule.
Enjoy!
Love both the photos today, Lecia. Of course I ALWAYS love your photos, but these are special.
I never made lists, but always planned things in my mind here and there when I'd hear about something special. I'd put everyone in the car for a surprise trip (never made plans in advance because there could be disappointment if I had to change plans) to the zoo, the state fair, anything I could think of. I enjoyed it as much as they did!
I detest summer. I'm just not a sun and heat sort of girl...although from what I've been reading this last week we might be able to blame my thyroid for a lot of that. Funny...I used to wear an 1870's period costume all summer while doing heavy physical labor at a historic site with no ac at all...and it never bothered me.
At any rate, I think that our family needs to institute a schedule as well. And a family meeting. Excellent ideas!
Happy 1st day of summer!
Happy Summer! I love summer...always have, always will. What surprises me is that I've started to appreciate winter, too. Funny how life changes us, huh?
I love the boys' list items: "scootering on the bullivard," yay!
Sounds like a good time to me.
lovely!
Happy Summer....outside!!!

just found your blog on poppytalk. love your photos! and happy summer! :)
what a sweet list! wish i could be as organized as you!!
I love everything about summer, while in winter I feel I wilt like vegetation. I like the "discussing my birthday" entry:)
I've grown to love summer, too, even though Florida temperatures skyrocket in June. Evening thundershowers make it worth it - as does a break from school, and beach trips, and cold iced tea.
Happy Summer to you! I like the idea of putting a loose summer schedule on a family board. I'm a new reader here. It's nice to "meet" you. :)
we did this too and i put it on a huge poster board with boxes next to it so we could check mark them off :)
