This whole week has been so. full. In so many ways. Last night we attended an end of the year art and music event at school. I so enjoyed the creativity in abundance everywhere. In particular, I loved this collection of self portraits by Abbott's second grade class. (His is second from the left on the bottom row.) Every year the students make a self portrait (this post contains a photo of the one he did last year); I find it interesting to see the progression from year to year.
It has been a great school year; hard to believe there are only two weeks left. Abbott's take on it: "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (our teacher) was much loved by her second grade class until evil emperor summer tried to take away the fun."Cal, when asked what he liked best about school this year responded, "The best thing I learned this year is math. Because you learn numbers and what problems they are."

I can only hope Cal loves math just as much as he gets older! :) Makes life so much easier.
Abbott's class did very well on their self-portraits. I am impressed. I still can only draw stick figures. Too late for me! Hurrah for their teacher.

I don't think my boys were ever asked to do a self portrait, I really like the idea, and the class collection is amazing. I think in two weeks time Abbott will think differently about evil emperor summer:)!
Oh how I love to hear what your children think and feel about this world of ours. Enjoy these days, and the ones to come. They are all good.

oh my a year since his last self portrait post? we zip by!
i smiled at cal's answer because lately, when lala has said she doesn't want to go to school and asked why "because i don't want to do math!" bummer, since she is quite good at it!
