At the end of the day I hear the real deal about the boys' days. When they're vulnerable, tired, I hear about what was fun, what they did, how they perceive what they did, what they're proud of, what made them sad, what questions they have. As I read to them or listen to Alexi read, I feel the house begin to settle and the breathing collectively slow. And then when the lights are finally out, I sit and think about the sum of our day.

A beautiful way to end the day.
i love the sound of a house (or apt.!) setting, lecia. it's such a wonderful, peaceful time of the day. you totally captured it through these pictuers. beautiful.
Lovely, Lecia. I think you are a wonderful, caring mother.
When my kids were little, I probably fell into bed exhausted and never gave this a thought.
Beautiful bedtime and quiet time photos (and title, again!).
Your words are poetry. This post is so lovely!! The sum of the day..perfect!
My husband is the end of day confidant in our home. I'm - rather sadly - usually so tired by then that I am ready to be away from the children and gladly turn things over to him.
isn't it amazing how their little minds work so differently from ours?
