Cal never misses an opportunity to pick flowers - I love that about him.
Last night Alexi cooked two trout the boys caught on Sunday, and I made a salad composed almost exclusively of things from our garden. I'm so eager for our tomatoes to be ready (still in the blossoming stage).
I realized last night as I was watering that I am entirely and completely happy when I'm working in the garden. Even when I'm having to squeeze it in at a busy time.
Feeling a bit exhausted and depressed by the many moments of closure and saying goodbye at school this week.
The sun continued to shine yesterday and that is not a small thing (rain predicted today).

Your days always sound so lovely and simple happiness.
Your food always sounds lovely too!!
Hard to see a school year end and boys getting older but your summers on the beach and on your deck...priceless trade off. Enjoy!
I love these pictures of Cal.
Lots of goodbyes to pupils and colleagues here, too. Today is the first day of my summer holidays.
My kids were just the opposite! They couldn't wait for school to be out each summer. There were smiles all around. On my face too!
Cal looks so sweet.
It's good to see you always find those moments of sunshine, even when things are busy or you feel a little sad. I've always loved picking flowers so can identify with Cal.
I really miss gardening. I know exactly what you mean. Big hugs for comfort during the transition to summer. It's a challenge, as welcome as it is!
It's a blessing to find something that you can so completely lose yourself in that you find peace and happiness.
I think this time of year is just kind of tough in general as we all transition from school to the summer. Our kids are still young enough that the loss of school is hard - no matter how much they were looking forward to the vacation.
these are so sweet! thanks for sharing.

Your sons are so handsome and expressive.
Sweet photos. You captured a lot of beauty and peace this week in photos. Above, your post about the sum of your days...lovely way to end the day.
Warmly,
Nicola
