One of the ways summer is good for me is that it pushes me to operate differently than I do when left to my own devices. This is primarily because the boys are home. Instead of 'getting things done', I get out and in summer. And tonight, coming home to chaos after a full, fun day of hiking and picnicing with friends, I was able to convince myself that I am not a terrible housekeeper. I decided I am a good wife, mother and friend who happens to have a messy house.
And your giving your sons beautiful childhood memories. So what if the laundry isn't folded. They won't remember the laundry, however, they will remember all the fun they had.
I completely agree with Purple Flowers! Lecia, thanks for such a beautiful post (I particularly love the last sentence). It opens up my mind (I shouldn't get emo next time when I see my messy room after spending a day out with family and friends : )
As far as I'm concerned, children, family and friends are vastly more imporant than a spotless house. My own housekeeping is seriously lacking...but I have happy kids!
I can't ever escape the messy house for more than half a day. I've learned to resign myself to the fact that having a messy house does not mean I am a "messy mother." And those photos are fantastic!
Yes, you are all of that. You're also an amazing photographer, and should do more with that. Fantastic photos, I see what "anonymous" was referring to:)
You are such a good wife, mother, friend, blogger, baker, chef, photographer and nurturing soul~ The memories you are creating for your children will long be savoured and a messy home can always be cleaned by someone other than you! I am all for having a little help! pve

That's what is important in the end, Lecia. You can organize to your hearts delight when they are grown. It's all too short a time.
That is a great attitude!
Wow! Your photos are just beautiful! I enjoy reading your blog. Thanks!
Oh wow!
Amen! You know you aren't a terrible housekeeper. Summer is not the time for housekeeping anyway!
That waterfall is unreal, is that near Seattle? Gosh you live in an amazing place.
Thanks for this magnifisant view.
Where did you take this picture?
I Love waterfalls!

Housekeeping is so overrated. Love this post, Lecia.
