Today I was reminded of how much I love hiking; it's been eight years since I've been on one I really enjoyed. We took the kids in backpacks when they were really little and did easy hikes the past few summers, but it has always felt like work. There is often complaining from the second we arrive at the parking lot. Today, however, Abbott and Cal were totally up for it. They ran ahead of me and back, again and again and again. We snacked on cherries as we walked. Wandering through the fields of tall grass and wildflowers, feeling the sun on my skin and the damp grass on my legs I felt more alive. The boys are now sleeping like logs. It was just what we all needed.
Those flowers are so beautiful; I'd forgotten how nice that feels, the damp grass on your legs and that satisfying fatigue and hunger when it's all over.
Looks like a lot of fun. My best friend and I go on long walks every Friday morning. We tend not to take her children as they are young and tend to moan a lot whilst we walk, but our dogs love it.
Hello! I'm Lecia. I live with my husband and two boys by the ocean in beautiful Seattle. This space contains my day to day reflections about parenting, marriage, food, photography and life in general. Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to visit!

Older boys are a lot of fun. I miss mine on this trip.

Now that sounds like the perfect summer activity! I'm glad you had such a good time.
Isn't it lovely when your children are old enough to enjoy a hike like this? May you have many more this summer!
i love wildflowers!
Oh, that sounds just perfect and lovely; sometimes a good hike is just the ticket for a good day.
