make the time sweet

This week we've had increasing numbers of fallen brown leaves in our yard. Not sure what it means - it seems too early to be the beginning of fall. The heat continued yesterday, but according to the meteorologists the hot days are over as far out as the forecast goes. For now, for as long as we can, we're picking blackberries for our dessert and eating them while they're still warm.

Here in Holland we had rain for some days now.
It looks like fall.
we are also picking blackberries, I'm freezing them to make jam and chutneys in the fall.

It's so hard to believe that you live in a big city - what a great location!

Hello Lecia,

I've missed this blog so much. I used to read a new post every morning over breakfast but alas, getting internet in my new place is proving to be a challenge. I hope the heatwave finishes soon. In Berlin, it was so extreme, incredibly hot and now rainy and grey. Thanks for the beautiful and inspiring images as always.

Yesterday as I walked to the mailbox, a leaf fell on my head. "Too soon!" I thought. And then I realized there were leaves falling all around me... Can it be? Is summer done?

i worry about our fall this year - it will be early and fast with the drought. here the brown leaves mean the trees didn't get a lot of water this summer.

enjoy the warm berries - that is the very best of ways to enjoy them.

I can hardly believe summer is practically gone. Ours was a total washout...31 straight days of rain, a record breaking number of days. Broke a record which has stood since 1951 for consecutive rainy days. People getting resigned to oncoming cool weather and I too see a few leaves on the ground....so many mushrooms in the grass too. I think I will treat myself to a latte this morning..xoxo

Everything here is completely brown...but that's our normal for this time of year - especially for this family, which refuses to water the lawn!

I've made similar observations and had similar thoughts about autumn.
