We spent a fantastic day apple picking at Jones Creek Farms. The drive to get there was relaxing and scenic, and we had as much fun with the animals on the farm as we did sampling and picking apples. The farm staff were very warm and welcoming, and encouraged us to try as many varieties as we wished. With every single one Cal sampled he exclaimed, "mmmm!", though the rest of us chose favorites among the 120 varieties present (sunrise was my top choice). I'm looking forward to applesauce, apple cake and apple pie in the week to come.
I see that fall has most definitely arrived but the choice and flavour of apples is one of the things I love most about it. Looking forward to some apple recipes from you - you inspired me to spend a rainy afternoon yesterday making plum crumble.
That looks like so much fun! Reminds me of our pumpkin farm...which also has the animals and the whole farm experience.
I was just telling my mother that I really miss the apple orchard of my childhood...the one that I went to on countless field trips. It's long since been plowed under, with not a trace of an apple tree anywhere. Very sad.

So many apples on those slender trees! Apple trees are so pretty. Happy baking!
Your children will love knowing that the food you make came from their adventerous day at the Apple Farm!
This is one of the things that always makes me homesick for the U.S. in the fall...

Autumn is here, its time for apple everything!
I can just smell the apples. And cider. Such a fun day, Lecia. I remember days like that so well. Florida is a different world.
