like Frederick

We love all of Leo Lionni's work. One of our favorites of his is Frederick, a story about a mouse who, instead of storing up food for the winter, spends his summer storing up sunshine and color and words.

I hope that this long weekend provides you an opportunity to store up some memories to savor in the months to come.

I love this, Lecia. Thanks for the reminder to store up some sunshine and memories for the autumn ahead. I'm a school teacher, and my eldest starts kindergarten next week, so this weekend is a special one. 3 more days to savour the sun, and the freedom of summer vacation!

The first time I read Frederick to my boys I was blown away: I come from a culture shaped by the exact opposite kind of lesson, like in Aesop "the ant and the grasshopper". But this summer I traveled and stored up memories and experiences, and didn't put up jam. Nice post and reminder Lecia, now I don't feel guilty:) Happy long weekend.

What pretty days you have here collected. One of like these just arrived here in Finland. Misty sunset of the early autumn, my kindest greetings!
