October 1

(images were taken at the Queen Anne Farmer's Market last evening)

It feels a lot like August 1 or September 1 around here (I am very happy about that). I hope your October is off to a good start also.

We just had our 'Back to School' night, an evening for teachers to talk to parents about what goes on in the classroom. I loved the glimpse into the boys' school world. In the kindergarten session the teachers talked about the crumpled, seemingly insignificant things that come home with the kids; how they represent so much. The discussion, the planning, the cutting, the taping, what might be written or drawn on it. So much effort and work and learning. It's really the process that's important, much more than the end result.

I was mesmerized by a poster in Cal's classroom - Chagall's Paris Through the Window.

Thank you for all of your nice comments this week. Enjoy your Friday!

Thanks for coming to the market and for sharing these lovely photos. Our intern will be thrilled that someone noticed her chalk art!

Your kids have very good teachers, who take the time to go through that process. Chagall is possibly my favorite artist, and his autobiography is a very interesting read.

I wish I could go to that Farmer's Market. Now that we live up North in the Yukon I miss those seemingly "everyday" things that I used to take for granted. Oh and we now have snow. Yup. :o(

I missed the school parents lunch this year because of my babysitting schedule...but I have to say I was a bit releaved as it's always very crowded and a bit chaotic. I understand that my husband had a fantastic time, and so did my daughter as Daddy brought some normally forbidden fast food for them to share!

Needed some visual peace, so had to come visit you, Lecia! Ditto here on feeling like summer, enjoying the community happenings, and back to school night. :)

I just had to share that market staffers are howling about the "anual pie cotest" . . . we all saw that sign but none of us noticed the funky spelling until your photo! :-)

Julie: I didn't notice it either, until I processed the pictures and I also had a good chuckle about it :)

Mmm, ice cream. I do love ice cream.

The weather has been unseasonably warm here, too. Which is only fitting, as it was unseasonably cool all summer long.
