December

December already. December at last. The month of anticipation, of citrus and bundling up. Good times with family and friends, warm beverages and short short days. Fires in the fireplace. Cookies and lights of all kinds. Giving and receiving. Of preparing the way.

What is December to you?

You expressed it so beautifully. I would also add the sounds of bells.

These photos really get me into the Christmas spirit. It sounds a little clich├ęd but to me December is light, finding warmth in the cold, sharing things with my family and lazy days at home for the holidays. It's actually my favourite time of year.

As I get older, I find December to be a bit more melancholy than other months. I long for the holidays of years past when I was a child and shared many traditions with my family. My mom and dad are gone and I miss them every day, but especially at this time of year.

This year, December is about making it through my husband's internal medicine rotation, trying to get job applications in, blah blah....but most importantly, it's about celebrating my baby's first holiday season on this planet!

As I am getting older I appreciate all the Decembers of long ago and remember those loved ones who are gone and the traditions they created. I appreciate the amount of work it took them to put together those holidays which make me warmly recall them now.

Lovely post Lecia, very thought provoking. Happy December! xoxo

I always come here for seasonal beauty
to see images of how it was growing up.

Warmth despite the cold, family, love, celebration, festivities, cold, pink noses, giving, taking stock....
