wake, awake

This week has been parties and baking and gift making and giving, mixed in with a grandmother in and out of the hospital, a nephew accepted to the college of his choice early decision, and two failing kitchen appliances. Hectic, messy, full, stressful, joyous, chaotic. Tonight, at our advent vespers as we sang, 'wake, awake, for night is flying' I was jolted. This is it. Wake up. This holiday season will soon be a memory. This season with this boy on my lap, the boy next to me reading, the sense of community around me and of God with us. Is now.

You have a beautiful way with words. Just beautiful.

I agree with Purple Flowers, so beautiful. I too try to savour every second of this pre-Christmas time, baking, music and light, sharing this special quiet time with my family. It goes way too fast and I find January so dark and cold without the colours and joyfulness.

Treasure every moment, Lecia. Sit back and enjoy the season and the time with family. They grow up so fast.

Wise words. I'm always thankful when I pause to appreciate the moment.

I hate those moments when I notice 'this' is about to be over. Makes me feel sad and desperate for it to last longer.

This is a beautiful post. The title, the photo, and your words. This season is now.

Sean and I were just talking about how this month - and this year - has been flying by like never before. Makes me stop and grab those quiet moments as often as I can.
