words to live by

Early this morning, the boys had a hockey game. They played an undefeated team, the team ranked first in the league, and narrowly won. It truly was a nail biter from start to finish. In the car afterward, Abbott said, 'I didn't think we were going to win. We were behind a lot of the time.' Alexi said, 'Remember this day, boys, the next time you're feeling you can't win. Remember this time when you thought you wouldn't win, and you did.'

Alexi is very good at guiding your boys into learning lessons from their own observations!

The great companion lesson to "it's not always about winning." Side note: I love the little Santa and sleigh on the sill. Provenance??

Another beautiful post, Lecia.

That is a brilliant sentiment, and one that I am sure will stick with them. It has been amazing how many great learning moments have come from sports with my kids as well. I was a bit against it at first, but I am beginning to embrace all that they are learning.

I find it's not easy to teach confidence when playing sports. I hope your boys will remember their father's words next time, they're so true!
Love that last photo, I don't remember seeing it on flickr.
