catching up

I'm slowly catching up around here, after two weeks of travel and kids home and merry making. I've dealt with all the accumulated mail, taken the car in for an oil change, and had a check-up with my doctor. (I received another clean bill of health - five years now, cancer free.) Today I'll be packing up the last of the Christmas decorations, and Alexi will carry the tree outside - always bittersweet. I know I'll enjoy the newfound sense of spaciousness and the extra light afforded by the freshly-unblocked window, but the absence of the sparkle and lights and general cheer will be a loss.

I miss having the kids around during the day. Twice yesterday I checked the weather forecast to see if there was a chance of a snow day this week. It's not looking that way, for better or for worse.

I hope you're having a nice week. xo

Hello,
School started today here, but work already started Monday... Xmas decorations are still up and putting them down will be the job of the week-end...
I wish you a Happy New-Year and I am happy to read it started with good (healthy) news!

It's always alittle bittersweet taking down the Christmas decorations. I mull over them as I box them up just as much as when I open them up to decorate.

I am so glad that you were able start your new year with a clean bill of health, Lecia! ♥
And I, too, love/hate to see the tree go, but love the instant sense of space i feel when it's gone. This year i opted to keep a few lights behind on the mantle. :)

yes. indeed. yeah for cancer free.

we are enjoying the open spaces in our home but missing the extra lights... my concession... I left a string of white lights in my dark kitchen. it is pouring rain and I am glad I did.

Happy Anniversary!

I'm still trying to get back to normal around here. One of the bad things about having given in to an artificial tree (given to us by my grandmother) is that we get lazy about taking it down.

Of course, it would have helped had I been home lately.

Wow, how nice to know that you are doing so well. Five years now and your life seems to be full of blessings - may you have many more in the new year!

I can't wait for my sad and almost bare tree to be taken down tomorrow... that is when the year feels like it really starts.

I'm about to take my tree down also, I get what you mean about missing the sparkles but enjoying the clean, fresh space. I am leaving up my fairy lights though (can't bring myself to take them down).

I'm so glad for you and your family that you've achieved 5 years being cancer free.
