If the rest of the month proceeds as today did, February, I'm in.
Today, Abbott is exactly eight and a half years old. He got to celebrate at school with treats (because his birthday occurs in the summer, when school's out). After school Cal surprised him with a half birthday card he'd made during his free choice time. He had a girl friend over this afternoon, and it felt a little like looking through a window to the future.

What amazing skies and sunshine - I'm jealous! It's lovely that Abbott could celebrate with his friends at school because my birthday is also in the summer and I remember having that problem. I feel better now January's over, even if it's still cold and grey.
We used to have a few girl friends over when the boys were younger, but then they decided that girls were too boring. I expect their feelings to change any time now!

February has been a good month so far
oh a very happy half birthday to mister abbot! we've a summer birthday, too, and i've never gotten around to this tradition. this year, this year...
While I understand why they had to make such policies, it still makes me sad that I can't take treats to school to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I still remember that as being a really special part of my own childhood!

L. has reached 11 1/2 a couple of days ago ... and an American friend & I were talking that here in France they don't notice half-birthdays -- too bad -- while in the US you do. Here at home, we made it a tradition that L. gets to pick a favorite dessert on her half-birthday and there is always one little candle on it for her to blow...
did you know that finn and abbott are only one day apart? is that crazy?
we made half a cake on the 31st :)
