from where I sit

I bought a rug. You can see part of it here. Nothing fancy, but I like it. The cats have been sleeping on it, and Abbott has taken to doing his homework at the table, because he likes the feel of it under his feet. Having a reasonable comfort level with putting a rug under our dining room table perhaps signifies a new phase of life.

I'm still sick. I've been waking in the wee hours when my ibuprofen wears off. Hoping to see the last of it soon - how long can a virus possibly stick around?

Alexi pointed out this article about nurturing nests. I especially like this bit: "...the formula for crow success may not be terribly different from the nostrums commonly served up to people: Let your offspring have an extended childhood in a stable and loving home; lead by example; offer positive reinforcement; be patient and persistent; indulge even a near-adult offspring by occasionally popping a fresh cockroach into its mouth; and realize that at any moment a goshawk might swoop down and put an end to the entire pedagogical program."

Happy Thursday. xo

so sorry to hear how that virus keeps sticking around lecia.
ok, the cockroach is maybe a little TOO accessible to the average new yorker. maybe this particular article is not for me, but i do like the sentiment.

feel better!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been sick! I hope you get better soon.

And enjoy that new rug. It's amazing how something so simple can make such a difference or be such a comfort.

Have you read about the parenting of pigeons? One never sees a juvenile pigeon because they're in the nest, being cared for. I'm on day 7 of my virus, it's just so incredibly tedious. Hope you are better soon, and me as well.

I'm sorry to hear you' ve been sick for a while Lecia and hope it will now get better REAL SOON. Have you tried Eucalyptus essential oil baths ? letting the steam building in the bathroom ... this eases breathing & headaches (at least for me it does)

Your new rug seems to have very nice tones... we can't have rugs here, unfortunately one of my main allergies is dust :(

get-well hugs x
