In a few hours, my friend Sarah Jio (fellow Seattleite and mom)'s debut novel, The Violets of March, will officially be released from Penguin. I got my hands on a copy today - my neighborhood bookstore put their shipment on the shelf this afternoon - and I haven't been able to put it down. I'll probably lose sleep over it, reading into the night when I should be sleeping. Target picked the book to be part of their Emerging Author Program, and Costco chose it as a book buyer favorite. Check out the book trailer here; you can purchase it online here. I think this would be a great Mother's Day gift, book to pack in your suitcase for your next vacation, or in your beach bag this summer.
Sarah, congratulations!
(Part of the land seen above and often depicted in my photos, at the other side of the water, is Bainbridge Island, the setting of part of the book.)

How exciting. I love Bainbridge and have always wanted to read a good book about Bainbridge while staying on Bainbridge. Looks like I need to plan another trip.
That looks great! Thanks for the rec and congratulations to Sarah!
