Me: "Look at this flower (in a neighbor's flower bed)! I've never seen one like it before. It looks like a button! Pink with a yellow center. So pretty."
Cal: "It must be a weed and they just don't know it. Weeds are the prettiest ones. Look at dandelions!"

The most charming conversation, thanks for sharing! I often find weeds pretty too; good that your boys can appreciate beauty in all forms. How I envy you the garden, it's too sticky here right now.
That is the sweetest! And Hank loves dandelions too! He is actively spreading them around the yard any chance he gets.
So precious. His POV is interesting as the botanical definition of a weed is something that grows where it shouldn't. Therefore, a rose in an orchid garden would be considered a weed. Maybe Cal just likes "underdogs." Thanks for the charming post, once again :)
I laughed out loud when I read your post. It wasn't at all what I was expecting with the title...but it makes complete sense. Childen are drawn to the weeds, and it makes you wonder what we crazy adults are missing.
I like Cal's perspective.
