After dinner, after a long, leisurely walk through the neighborhood I stood outside watering, listening to the sound of our ice cream maker churning through the open kitchen window, and a little farther away, peals of laughter as Alexi read Calvin & Hobbes to the boys. More remotely in the distance, the intermittent crackling sounds of fireworks. I thought about July fourths past. As I watered the hot herbs, their scent wafted up and it all felt like perfection.

So lovely.
Just found your blog, love your photos, looks like you all had a great day
Some of your best in this group, methinks.
The 4th is such a picturesque holiday!
Oh how I love the wild sweet peas of magnolia! I've picked many bunches in past years! As I recall, they don't have a floral scent, but they still are gorgeous! As usual, this blog makes me say ahhhhhhh! Wasn't the 4th just lovely? And today! This is why we live in Seattle. For these days! xoxo
Lovely imagery, felt like I was there for a minute :)
It seems perfection was on your mind. This feels funny to write, but those empty cones are stunning.
Thank you, friends. xo
