July 4

After dinner and a long, leisurely walk through the neighborhood I stood outside watering, listening to the sound of our ice cream maker churning through the open kitchen window, and peals of laughter from Cal's window, as Alexi read Calvin & Hobbes to the boys. More remotely in the distance was the intermittent crackling sounds of fireworks. As I watered the hot herbs, their scent wafted up and it all felt like perfection.

Oh how I love the wild sweet peas of magnolia! I've picked many bunches in past years! As I recall, they don't have a floral scent, but they still are gorgeous! As usual, this blog makes me say ahhhhhhh! Wasn't the 4th just lovely? And today! This is why we live in Seattle. For these days! xoxo

It seems perfection was on your mind. This feels funny to write, but those empty cones are stunning.
