Abbott is spending hours, every day, planning things related to (daydreaming about) his birthday in a couple of weeks.
Alexi is busy packing, planning, attending to every last detail for an upcoming vacation. I think sometimes he gets stuck in minutiae, but don't tell him I said so. I am more about the big picture. Move forward, fix the small things later. What would we do without each other?

Cal is right, vacation = play time!:)
Brilliant thought from Cal. I didn't like swim lessons much, so I swapped to a pool where I could swim just how I wanted and have been doing that ever since :D
That tomato looks luscious.
I've been thinking about "I think sometimes he gets stuck in minutiae, but don't tell him I said so. I am more about the big picture. Move forward, fix the small things later." and realizing how I'm often in Alexi's frame of mind. I am trying to be a bit more big picture today. Thanks for the reminder. It feels good, liberating.
It is so very important to have a spouse who provides balance! I would be the minutia obsessor in this family, alas....but there are worse things!
Oh, that Cal, he's a wise boy.
(p.s.: Thank you for the camping shots. They warmed my heart, every last one.)
My husband and I are just the opposite. He would grab the kids, jump in the car, and just go, without even a destination picked. I want to know and plan for where, how long, do we need snacks, snow boots or bathing suits? Luckily I think we do rub off on eachother and vacations turn out well.
