Sailing, recently, with neighbors.
A few more leaves to sweep up, each evening, as I'm outside tending the garden.
The geese we heard yesterday spoke of it.
The fireweed in the neighborhood bear evidence.
The first rain in some time, today, a harbinger.
I lit the candles. I made a stew.
Weeks more of summer to look forward to.
And we are heading toward fall.
I love it all.

Sounds lovely! We haven't had any early signs of fall yet, but are eagerly awaiting them. It is our favorite season for so many reasons.
Such an amazing time of year, that turn into soft, quiet, golden autumn. It creeps in like mist, and you have to pay very good attention to notice the small changes.
I love it all, too. :)
The fireweed is well under way here and just the other morning I watched geese practice flight formations. Leaves are dropping. Sad. Summer has positively evaporated. It flew by. Where did the time go...
We're starting to feel the change in the seasons over here in Vermont too...subtle, but most definitely there.
Lecia, I absolutely love this. I love Seattle too. So enjoying your blog.

I think you're right! Even though it is still very, very hot here in Atlanta, I swear the light is hitting the trees at a slightly different angle, and yesterday I was noticing how big the acorns have gotten.
There is no holding it back.
We always used the fireweed in Alaska to tell us when winter is coming. The minute you started seeing the fireweed go to seed then it was only 6 weeks till winter.
So true. We are. Beautiful photo!
It is nearly that time isn't it!
I love your words, but I'm not looking forward to the fall.
