like winter

This morning, my car's outside temperature gauge registered 39 degrees on the drive to school. The sky spat out rain, intermittently, and the light was shimmery and beautiful. Once the kids were at school I braved the elements for a walk with a friend. Shortly after heading out the door, we saw a full rainbow that ended in the sound. Later, I sat at my computer, picking up a writing project I hadn't worked on in weeks. Some movement caught my eye. I looked up and was surprised to see two hummingbirds flitting about, just outside the window. These little happenings gave the day an auspicious air that stays with me even now.

I'm looking forward to daylight savings time this weekend, to entering the rest of the days of the year. Days of celebration and comfort and warmth.

Happy Friday.

We already had daylight savings, it makes me grumpy going to the work in the dark. It sure does feel like winter, although I am sure it is warmer this time this year...

What a beautiful post. I miss the weather in the Pacific North West. Have been patiently waiting for Fall to arrive in Northern California... can't really complain though, it been warm and lovely (but I look so much better in a cosy jacket and boots :)

we are already on daylight savings time, and I can't say I like the even shorter days much.

i'm looking forward to hearing how today and the time change went for you. i am so surprised that i'm inspired by it this year, extra light time in the am and a relaxing calm in the evening brought on by the early darkness. i recognized last february that we only need to get to the 14th to feel like we've gained good time in the evening again. perhaps that propels me to forge ahead. blessing to you all. xoj
