We’ve been away for a few days. Cal played in a hockey ‘jamboree’ (a few games) in the Portland area, so we decided to make a long weekend out of it. We walked the city, ate a lot of good food, played in the hotel pool, read books. We saw Arthur Christmas, which was clever and hilarious and warm. We loved it. One of the best Christmas movies I’ve seen; modern and timeless at the same time. And we’ve been listening to and enjoying A Very She & Him Christmas all weekend, thanks to Lorraine’s mention of it.
I hope your weekend was a good one. It's always harder having it end after a holiday, isn't it?

I love Portland! Looks like you did the city proud.
Your weekend looks wonderful!
Unfortunately I've been sick for many days, so I didn't enjoy the sunshine at all....
Lovely photobook of a city on my must-visit list. Thanks for the snaps.
a great set of pictures! we're loving the She & Him Christmas album as well!!
The Monday after a long weekend is the pits! Despite the fact that I'm working from home, it's just such a downer after four days of holiday fun with family.
Beautiful photos, you really capture the feeling of Portland. It's one of our favorite places. After we quit doing the STP ride, we don't get there often enough. Thanks for posting.
I went to college in Portland. Portland has so many great restaurants. Glad you had a fun weekend.
oh i am going to be back there in feb... cannot wait!!!
oh, thank you for the arthur christmas review! we are thick into the doubting santa era, and i was on the fence about whether this would help or harm. clever, modern, timeless: that we can do.
welcome home.
xo,
molly
Sounds - and looks - like fun!
I bought a very she and him Christmas too, and am loving it. Zooey's turn at the national anthem during the world's series amazed me, and I now love her voice!
Incidentally...I buy at least two new christmas albums/year. We have an insane amount of Christmas music!
What a good idea to take a long weekend away! Btw, we're based in Spokane at the moment, and won't come through Seattle this time. The best route to the Pacific Nothtwest from Europe seems to have become via Salt Lake City :(
