Alexi’s father met up with us in Canada yesterday, and last night, the boys chose to sleep with him in his hotel room (all three of them in his king-sized bed!). When I went to check on them this morning, they were all sitting on his sofa, the room lit only by the dim morning light of winter coming in through the window. ‘Oh dear,’ I thought to myself. ‘I should've come over sooner. They have nothing to do!’ Then I realized the boys were a rapt audience, and father-in-law was softly talking about the evolution of wolves and dogs. The way they were settled in together suggested they’d been that way for a while, and it didn’t look as if any of them were in a hurry to go anywhere, anytime soon.
